Storage Server
The advent of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology has opened up a new horizon for the design of Direct Attached Storage (DAS) as well as Network Attached Storage (NAS).  We can now have as many as 24 hard disks (HDD) in one system with another 24 hard disks in an external chassis on RAID.  As at November 2008, SATA HDD has reached a capacity of 1.5TB per disk.  This above scenario means that we can have as many as 72TB (Terabyte) in a system whether it is a DAS or NAS.  As recent as a year ago, this level of storage was unheard of.  We will provide a few examples of a Storage Server below but we are able to build and configure systems in different form factors.
