The OpenNI organization is an industry-led not-for-profit organization. It promotes the compatibility and interoperability of Natural Interaction (NI) devices, applications and middleware. The organisation has taken this first step towards its goal: OpenNI Framework provides an API for writing applications utilizing natural interaction in C++ and C# programming languages. The set of API covers communication with both low level devices (e.g. vision and audio sensors) as well as high-level middleware solutions (e.g. for visual tracking using computer vision).
