This model is based on the Intel X79 chipset offering the highest single processor desktop performance as of Dec 2011 with the LGA 2011 Socket. The platform supports Intel Core i7 6-core processors and Quad-Channel DDR3-1600 main memory (4 x 12.8GB/s) directly accessed by the CPU. Theoretical maximum memory support is 64GB via 8 memory DIMM slots but the max memory module size is currently 4GB for up to 32GB memory. The platform has 3 x PCI Express x16 slots (version 3 running at x16/16/8) for the provision of high-end graphics (with SLI or CrossFireX Technology support), 2 x PCI E x1 2.0 slots, and 1 PCI slot for supporting other peripherals or expansion cards. The platform supports Intel Host RAID on 6 x SATA 3Gbps (2 ports are 6Gbps capable). E-SATA and Firewire is available at the rear.
