The Thunderbird workstation is designed to fulfil the need for reasonably high graphics processing capabilities on top of solid computing performance. The AMD 880G/SB850 chipset has an integrated ATI Radeon HD 4250 GPU which provides full 1080p HD video support as well as Direct X 10.1 for gaming and multimedia applications. A 16x PCI Express 2.0 slot is also present if increased graphics performance is required with a Hybrid CrossfireX option if a compatible card is used.
 The system supports AMD Socket AM3 multi-core processors based on the K10 architecture that include the Phenom II, Athlon II and Sempron 100 families. This system can support up to 16GB of DDR3 memory in its four (4) DIMM sockets (with two banks providing dual-channel performance). Please note that only ~3.6GB of memory will be registered and used in 32-bit versions of Windows XP/Vista/7. A 64-bit OS is required if your needs demand 4GB of memory or more. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7.
