Whangarei Boys High School
September 2012

At WBHS we focus on developing boys into fine young men. We appreciate and celebrate the fact that boys are different to girls – physiologically, physically and emotionally. They learn in different ways, they thrive on competition, they experience high levels of physicality, they learn best in ‘chunks’; they are invariably pragmatic and do things often on the spur of the moment.  We are proud of our traditions but we are also proud of our innovations. What we do and what we do well can be grouped under three categories: Lifting from the Top, Engagement and Navigating Clear Boundaries.

The school has 1100 students and their learning processes are guided by 85 teachers and staff and supported by about 250 desktop computers.  Its information system manager Steven Merritt has developed and perfected an information network in the school over the years which has been steadily and comfortably supporting all the above described school missions and efforts for adminsitration, students and teachers.  The information system is made up of multiple servers in the engine room and 7 of them were made by Compucon New Zealand.  Steven is happy to provide references on Compucon should anyone need it.
