Error message about hardware-assisted virtualization for Windows XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC on a computer that is running Windows 7 has been published in a Microsoft KB article 977206. Based on this article, Microsoft now support non HAV processors under Windows 7 Virtual PC / Windows XP Mode.
