A publication of the PC industry- Reseller News pointed out that the Auckland Yellow Pages 2010 edition is 20.4% smaller and presumably there is the same reduction of advertisers. The writer of the article believed that online ads take up some of the slack and search engines like Google would be the preferred entry point for online advertising. This is a stark reminder of the changing face of how we find information and promote our products and services. Websites are becoming the preferred shop fronts for companies selling products and services. Retail shops are location based and websites are keyword based. If our website has the right keywords that are populated evenly throughout the website, it would have a good chance of being picked up by search engines as a top shop. No wonder SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is more important than CEO (Chief Executive Officer) these days. CNZ website www.cnz.co.nz has done well with IPVS (Internet Protocol Video Surveillance) but not with Information Technology services. This is because the latter is a crowded space stuffed with many keywords. The hint here is to find your niche keywords in a less crowded space for your website. |
