CPU is the heart of any system, and RS812+/RS812RP+ incorporates a passive cooling structure to avoid the dependency of a dedicated processor cooling fan, and mitigate any critical point of failure. When system detects fan fails, the built-in redundancy mechanism will spin up the functional fan(s) to properly ventilate the system, and support continuous operations until the replacement fan arrives. Therefore, potential system damages are minimized and system availability is maximized.
Robust & Affordable Scalability Up to 32 TB
When the storage capacity of the Synology RS812+/RS812RP+ is nearing its capacity limit, it can easily be expanded with the Synology RX410 expansion enclosure. The Synology RX410 securely connects to the Synology RS812+/RS812RP+ via an eSATA cable with specially-designed locking connectors. The Synology RX410 expands the existing storage on the Synology RS812+/RS812RP+ up to a maximum 32 TB capacity.

Easy Setup and Management

Wizard steps through all of the settings including firewall settings, port-forwarding, PPPoE setup and DDNS registration. Running on AJAX technology, the UI is intuitive and easy-to-use. Creating private shared folders for a large number of users is easy with the User Home feature because it minimizes the steps and time for the administrator to create private shared folders. The sub-folder privilege settings further extend the flexibility to allocate permissions for different workgroups.
Flexible RAID Management
The Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) automatically builds an optimal RAID volume with data protection based on the hard drives installed, eliminating the need to have hard drives of identical size, while still offering a manual setup option for advanced users.
Complete Backup Solutions
The Synology DS410 offers a centralized backup target to consolidate fragmented and unstructured data across a network. PC Users can back up their data to the Synology DS410 using the free Synology Data Replicator software, while Mac OS X users enjoy native Apple® Time Machine integration. A web-based backup wizard is provided for backing up data in the Synology DS410 to another Synology DiskStation or any rsync server
via an encrypted transmission, or to an external hard drive via USB or eSATA

The RDX QuikStor solution is fully backward
and forward compatible, so you protect your investment in both the drive
and the media. The RDX cartridge is incredibly rugged and shock
resistant to accommodate accidental falls from the rack or desk.
Tandberg Data offers two different types of RDX cartridges—cartridges
with hard drives inside and cartridges with solid-state disk inside.
Regular RDX cartridges are designed to provide easy-to-use, affordable
and reliable data protection. Solid-state disk RDX cartridges are
designed for customers who are willing to pay a premium to protect their
environments that need extreme speed and durability, in a portable
storage device.
The performance of the RDX cartridges differ, with hard disk drives
reading and writing data between 60 and 100MB/s and solid-state disks
reading and writing data up to 180MB/s. Customers can select between
160, 320, 500, 640GB and 1TB hard disk capacities or 64, 128, 256 or
512GB solid-state cartridge capacities. RDX cartridges are specified
for 5,000 load/unload cycles, providing years of daily use.
