An End Span PSE is an Ethernet PoE Switch that carries data and power on a link to a Powered Device such as a PoE camera

A Mid Span PSE is an Ethernet Hub that sits between an Ethernet Switch (Non PoE) that carries data only on a link to a Powered Device and the Powered Device, and injects power to the Powered Device such as a PoE camera
