Magnetic/electric Locks and RFID Cards Print
August 2020

Compucon IP access control is achieved with remotely controllable door locks and keys based on Internet Protocols. In order for the door locks to be remotely controllable, the locks will be driven by electric or magnetic force instead of manual force. In order for the door keys to be remotely controllable, the keys will be empowered with radio frequency (RF) for conveying the identity (ID) of the key holder. Two most popular form factors of such keys are credit size card and key-ring tag/fob. The combination of remotely controllable door locks and door keys implemented by Compucon is more reliable, more secured, and easier than traditional manual devices to operate.

Reliable: When we went to the locksmith to make a copy of the metal key, the new key might not work due to minor cutting issues and we had to go back to the locksmith to fix the issues. The same will not happen on radio frequency ID (RFID) cards. Instead of going to a key smith for a replacement key, we go to the same source (supported by Compucon) which issued the original cards to us. Key smiths are unlikely able to do duplications for us- try this.

Secured: We may get a locksmith to open a door for us in case we have lost the key. This cannot happen in the case of RFID cards. Locksmiths cannot unlock for us from the outside of the door. However, the same source (supported by Compucon) which supplied the original RFID card to users can give users another card that could open the door. The power has shifted from locksmiths (any of them) to a specific and well-defined source supported by Compucon who is either the residence manager or the business manager given the responsibility for building security. Locksmiths are not responsible or accountable per se.

Easier: One card may allow us to open several doors and multiple cards could be kept in our credit card purse. Lots of heavy keys and key chains would not be a burden on us any more. Reporting and replacing a lost card is easy as contacting our residence or business manager who we may see daily.

Benefits: Imagine we are a hotel guest and we do feel comfortable with the RFID card issued by the hotel for hotel and room access. True? In fact, the hotel management is the major beneficiary of the new system and individual users are minor beneficiaries. The RFID scheme is so much more efficient and cheaper to operate than the tradition door lock scheme that turning back is not an option for hotel management for example.

Doors and locks for protecting personal safety and properties have been around for many centuries.  The needs for them have therefore been established as essential.  Door lock technology keeps evolving.  Though most locks stay on a mechanical mechanism as of today (insert a metal key into the lock hole and turn the key by hand to unlock), modern locks have become a lot harder to hack or break than previously.  Furthermore, instead of a metal key, some modern locks rely on a 4 digit PIN code in lieu of a metal key.  This is an improvement.  Some modern locks can even be unlocked remotely over the Internet if needed.  So far so good as far as door locks for households are concerned.

What about a hotel with 300 rooms?  Hotels have long changed to credit cards in lieu of metal keys for several years skipping 4-digit PIN.  Those plastic access cards are much harder to hack or break than 4-digit PIN.  Hotel management across the world can no longer operate the hotel without such a system using plastic access cards to unlock a guest room.  These cards are in fact a simple plastic board imprinted of a circuit that contains a many digit PIN (many more than 4 digits).  Both cards and door locks can be set or reset from the hotel reception desk in a fraction of a second.

Why not apply the same hotel access card system to other organisations or high-end domestic houses?   Yes, we will explain such an application here.  See the topics on the Top RHS of the screen.

QMII Discounting Print
July 2020

1.0          PURPOSE

Introduce and maintain discounting as a means to encourage customers to build up business with us or to reward customers for their loyalty that is largely measured in terms of business level and consistency of business.  The policy does not apply on specific occasions where the General Manager has authorised special discount treatment such as for stock or cash flow control reasons.

2.0          POLICY

(a) Discounting Levels            A             3.0%

B             2.5%

C             2.0%

(b) Customer Qualification

§  The level of business in dollar term is one of the criterion for classification of customers. As business level fluctuates from month to month, the classification shall be based on the average of the preceding 3 months.

A            $50,000 per month or above

B            $30,000 per month or above

C            $10,000 per month or above

C           Loyal and trust-worthy customers for personal use

§  The payment history of the customer is a major criterion for negating the incentive.  That is, the discount will be suspended during the period when the outstanding payment owed by the customer to us has become overdue.  Discounting will be suspended whenever the circumstances appear to be not favourable to our company.

§  The discount applies to system orders only, not parts orders.

(c) Bulk Order Qualification

§  Discount is applicable to bulk orders but the discount is not additional to any discount granted under the customer-based criteria stated above.   The higher level will apply for that particular bulk order.

A              for 20 systems or more per order or 10 off for parts order

B              for 10 systems or more per order

C              for 5 systems or more per order or 5 off for parts order

§  The discount shall be applied to the minimum base system price only after including the downgrades or deletions.  Upgrades and additions are not discountable.

§  If companies go into 60 days they are automatically put on Stop Credit. In some cases they will be buying goods on COD till 60 days is cleared.  In this instance the discount will still be applicable for bulk orders.

§  If companies go into 90 days than they lose the bulk discount because 90 days indicates a bigger problem than just being late

§  Discounting on Bulk orders will still apply for companies who have got into trouble and are paying off their account with MTNZ but are still trading with us. This is because when they default on their agreed payments they are charged 2% interest per month.

(d) Non Discountable Items

§  For any indent item without a price published by the company, price for our customer is “our cost divided by 0.9”.  These items are not discountable.

§  All Agency products printed on yellow paper are not discountable.
