Analogue Cameras
analogue-camera-icon.jpg Analogue cameras are so called as they are not digital or IP.  They were the standard before digital or IP cameras were introduced.  The lack of high resolutions as found in digital cameras is one of the deficiencies of the analogue camera.  Analogue signals will also deteriorate over a long transmission distance whereas digital does not.  On the other hand, cost is lower for analogue cameras.

Analogue cameras are thus still valuable or cost effective for situations that do not demand higher specification or more features as offered by digital cameras.  An example is for small retail shop surveillance.  An analogue camera is suitable to monitor the till if money was taken out but not given to the customer for change.
