Graphics Cards
Graphics cards are more than just an adapter for the computer to display information these days.  They have their own memory and computing engine and behave like a PC.  As from late 2010, some CPU models have included graphics processing abilities and the computer does not need a discrete graphics card or chip any more.

Types of Graphics Implementation:
Discrete add-on card to the motherboard
o   Integrated on the motherboard
o   Integrated in the CPU
In contrast to their integrated cousins, discrete cards have their own real estate and contain more electronics for more powerful performance and richer features.  See the following for more info.GTX-590.jpg
