Security cameras is an often used term or phrase to represent cameras for the purposes of security. They are generally cameras that are designed to be stationary i.e. mounted or fixed at a specific location and often ruggedised for adverse weather conditions if implemented outdoors, or designed for a discrete or pleasing appearance if they are fixtures for indoors.
Unlike cameras used by consumers or film production, security cameras do not store video footage internally but transmit the video signals to another location - often to DVR, monitors or a computer.
