Functional Description
o This Digital Video Recorder (DVR) model is not based on open standard PC technology but it does use a standard SATA hard disk for storing camera footages. It has a Linux operating system installed in a firmware on the motherboard. The DVR is capable of resuming operation upon a power cut and recovery sequence.
o This DVR does not have a built-in screen for camera footage display. It provides connection to a screen through a choice of DVI, VGA or HDMI ports. It has a total display output capability of 240 frames per second on 1280 x 1024 dots (Super VGA). The display can be split into 4 windows or 8 windows for simultaneous camera viewing. For sure it supports viewing of camera videos on the local area network or via an Internet connection.
o In terms of recording, the DVR accepts camera images in 640 x 480 dots as the highest resolution. It can also be set to record in 640 x 240 or 320 x 240 dots. The DVR further compresses the digitized images for storage in the SATA hard disk and provide users of 5 levels of quality. The maximum hard disk size is 1TB. It will recycle hard disk space when full for camera footage storage. Newest footage will overwrite oldest footage.
o Motion detection or time based recording is a user set function. A camera can be divided into 48 rectangular zones for motion detection. The user can also decide the period to record prior and subsequent to the first instant of motion detected. Options are available for the DVR to issue an alarm email or enlarge the camera video to full screen.
o Playback is based on user specified camera number, date, hour, minute and second. It can also be based on search of events. Snapshots can be copied onto a USB thumb drive.
o The DVR has a standard RJ45 port for connecting to a local area network or the Internet from which other client PC can view camera footages with Internet Explorer.
