The release of 4U8 in August 2012 is a reinforcement of the cost benefits of Optimized Rack Servers. Previous models include 2U4, 2U8, and 3U8. The first two digits indicate the height of the enclosure on a standard 19" computer cabinet, and the third digit indicates the number of computing notes inside the enclosure.
4U8 is a good compromise between 2U4 and 7U20. We did not mention 7U20 before because it is in fact a blade server with a cabinet height of 7U containing 20 blades. Blades and nodes are not the same or the terms are not interchangeable. We mention 7U20 for the first time for the sake of making comparisons.
